Zoltan Ferencz

 

Zoltan Ferencz is an economist and political scientist, working as research fellow in the Institute of Sociology at Hungarian Academy of Sciences. He was 1999 – 2002 a Ph.D. Student in Sociology. He organised a lot of empirical projects on the field of environmental, water and risk issues and his task was the analysis of databases. In 2001 he took part in the international and interdisciplinary research programme in IIASA (Austria) concerning the disaster and flood problems especially on the Upper-Tisza region.

His main research topics include: Environmental sociology (floods, radioactive waste, food safety, sustainability; etc.); R&D policy; Social vision for the future; Lifelong learning

His main projects include the following:

The Floods on Upper Tisza and in Ukraine 1998-2003

The social affects of the hydrological problems in the lake Balaton 2003

Public views on water management issues and the water authorities in Hungary 1998-2003

In the last 8 years he was involved in international projects (NATO CCMS; FP6 (SAFEFOODS, COWAM2, TLM-NET); FP7 (CSS; PROSUITE; INSOTECH)).
